thesis . defence

Perhaps it is better to display the photos in this page in random order, hah!  The following picture was taken right after my PhD thesis defence in mid Fall 2018. I am thankful to the brainy folks that I have met throughout my journey at McGIll.    I will never regret the enriching experiences obtained in North America.

fine . motor . assessment

Fine motor tasks such as microsurgery can be daunting. Often, task performance can be augmented by a microscope or haptic device. Physiological factors such as hand tremors, caffeine intake, and others may contribute to task accuracy. This was a project funded by the A*STAR BMRC grant (2008 - 2011). The project was a collaboration with Dr. Etienne Burdet (Imperial College London) and clinicians at the National University of Singapore.

industrial . projects

Looking back, I feel privileged to accomplish many things while working in the industry. At one time, I commissioned test systems for overseas manufacturing sites in Poland and Hungary (two beautiful & historical countries in Europe!). Designing a user-friendly, modular, and structured UI was our company's principle for efficient automated test software.

leisure . time

How do I spend my leisure time now? Trying out new cafes and restaurants. I used to spend my leisure time drawing. The piece on the left is Mr. Freeze from the old Batman movie, which I drew during my secondary school days. On the right is the recent piece. I haven't got the chance to practice another medium such as oil painting (but do feel pencil is the cheapest tool)

canadian . style

I learnt a new hobby during my stay there... camping! I feel that Westerners know how to maintain a good quality of life and love to do outdoor activities over the weekend. The country is so blessed to have so many beautiful national parks. The fall foliage and maple syrup are probably the iconic symbols of Canada. I am also glad I could watch the Northern Light in Feb 2016, despite the freezing temperature of -40 deg C.
