Born in Jakarta, I completed my engineering degree in Singapore and began my career in engineering industry, successfully deploying turnkey manufacturing projects in Singapore and internationally. In 2012, I moved to Montréal, Canada, to pursue a Ph.D. degree in neuroscience.

Currently, I am with the Rehabilitation Research Institute of Singapore (RRIS) at Nanyang Technological University, where since 2024 I have taken on Assistant Director responsibilities for research leadership (including grant writing, project management, and partnership engagement, and undergraduate student mentoring), as well as operations management (including workplace safety, agreements, and publicity). Outside work, I enjoy quiet time with my wife and puppy, often over coffee or tea, jazz, and reading.

research interests

Movement is a fundamental human expression and an indicator of functional outcomes, regardless of age. Whether one does reaching, grasping, skill learning, or ambulation, the central nervous system relies on coordinated control as well as executive functions. My work bridges sensorimotor neuroscience, engineering, and clinical rehabilitation using kinematics, neural recordings, wearable sensors, robotics, and machine learning methods to characterize voluntary movement, assess and predict functional recovery, and identify biomarkers of therapy response. For more information about the research activities, please refer to this page.
